The action is solid. I mean, Javier Bardem through a train at Bond. There were Komodo Dragons and a bomb fight in Scotland. Again this goes toward blending the old and new. You have lines referencing the old tech in the Aston. You see some of it come back when the gun firing.

Synopsis

James is tested after being shot by someone who seems to know exactly what the MI6 is doing. With all of that going on, M is the target of that person and is making Bond work for it.

Review

We have to start with the story. It isn't often that it is the sins of someone else in the series presents such a problem for the main character. I am thinking about movies like the Mission Impossible Series where when it did happen, their introduction of the sin also shows that they are also the antagonist. This isn't the case here. This story is full of textured layers about what people must do to protect themselves and their country.

I also really appreciate Bond getting slower, more methodical, but at the same time a better MI6 agent. He starts to see the whole pictures and plans rather than reacting. This also the movie where you see the modern Bond being tied to the original Bond movies.

My Rating

This is, and always will be, my favorite Bond Movie. It sets the stage for a real Bond that actually cares about people. We see this in Spectre and forwards. There are some absolute highlights in this film from the action to the performances. I love Naomie Harris from 28 Days Later and Judi Dench. Judi's line about the poem from Tennyson is one of my favorite poems of all time because of this movie. This is a solid movie all the way around. This is a 9.

Parental Rating

There is some sex, obviously, and violence. What do you expect? My dad like the old ones and I think that he would enjoy this. Mom, not so much. There is nothing about family in this movie. The language is for sure there, but isn't too much. I am going to say approved by Dad and rejected by Mom.
